In October 2020, our educational program was devoted to architectural monuments of Ethiopia, as well as to comparison of various architectural and urban aspects of the central-north and eastern parts of this ancient country. In addition, we studied some modern residential complexes in Addis Ababa.

It was pleasure to show you and discuss with you all wonders of Ethiopia.
On our interesting trip in Ethiopia, I was particularly fascinated by the rock church in Lalibela. They were created in the 13th century and were carved out of the reddish tufa stone as monoliths. They are unique buildings – a miracle!
We were impressed to see that the Ethiopian Orthodox Christians still hold services there. These churches have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978!
I enjoyed my trip to Ethiopia for a number of reasons. First of all I was stunned by the unique architecture of religious places. Secondly, I was impressed by the look of beautiful faces, and lifestyle, that seemed to be frozen in ages since the biblical times. And finally, I loved travelling with a company of my new Swiss friends who helped me smoothen all the struggles of this fascinating journey.
