In July 2018, ARS-T organized an architectural workshop in central Russia.
We studied the dependence of the planning structure of Orthodox monasteries on the terrain and the socio-cultural influences of the political, economic, demographic, military environment.
Il y a quelques années j’ai eu le plaisir de pouvoir réaliser un rêve qui me tenait à cœur depuis de nombreuses années (40ans !). Parcourir ce merveilleux pays, et plus particulièrement “l’Anneau d’Or”.
Ce périple a pu se réaliser en 2018, avec les organisateurs de Art Tour. Ce voyage a été à la hauteur de mes espérances. Que de splendeurs insoupçonnées ! l’organisation de notre parcours a été magnifique et merveilleuse, nous a permis d’aller à la rencontre de sites splendides, de personnes adorables, de passer d’agréables journées et soirées, de découvrir les spécialités locales. Même si mon activité professionnelle n’avait rien de commun avec les autres membres du groupe, je dois dire que j’ai vécu une belle expérience avec ce groupe malgré la barrière de la langue. Un partage des connaissance avec tous est aussi ce qui ressort de ce séjour. Je conseille vivement. Un grand grand merci aux accompagnateurs. j’ai d’autres rêves de découverte et je sais qu’avec Art Tour ce sera possible.

J’ai eu le plaisir pour mon tout premier voyage en Russie de découvrir l’Anneau d’or. Ce fut une très belle surprise, un programme très bien préparé avec des moments instructifs, de très beaux sites, de la convivialité et du partage.

Just the other day, we memorised this journey and wondered, how it could be, that so many amazing and vivid impressions fit into a two-week tour. It was a huge trip – wonderful that we did so much!
Das war eine wunderbare, sonnige und farbige Reise! Beglückt habe ich die Kirchen mit den Fresken bewundert, bin auf der Wolga in froher Gesellschaft gefahren und habe das Zusammensein an unserem Jubiläumsabend genossen. Viel Verschiedenes konnten wir sehen und erleben, Landschaften, Städte, Essen und Übernachten, alles gut ausgewählt. Die so abwechslungsreich zusammengestellte Reise, auch die Stadtführung in Moskau werde ich nicht vergessen !

I look back on a happy trip with a nice group of people, some of us that enjoied many trips through different parts of Russia together with Sasha, who always finds interesting places to see and people to meet!
I was amazed about the changes in Moskwa. Next to the old part a area of completely modern, futuristic architecture. Then we traveled along the Wolga to many old citys with the typical Russian churches and monastrys that reminde from the outside always of fairytales and inside often have interesting old paintings.
These surely also influence people today in the art they are doing, like the artist in Rostov we visited.
After seeing so many places we enjoied a long boat tour on the Wolga, staying in a new little Hotel in a village along the river, a hotel in the old remodeld factory building, just on the shore of the Wolga.

It’s nice to think back to the trip, that took us from Moskwa and along the Wolga to many special places. I was astonished to see Moskwa so many ears later. Next the old city a futuristic new developement, a paradise for modern architecture! A contrast were all those many beatiful churches and monastries , from the outside they always seem to me like out of a fairy tale. Inside all those wonderfull and interesting old paintings! This all surely influeced many artists, like the man we visited in Rostov. To experience this all in a nice group, made it even better. After seeing so many things it was relaxing to have a long boat tour on the Wolga and then stay in a Hotel on the shore, that was a factory and then got remodeled to be a Hotel. There we could celebrate 25 years travelling with Sasha and Anne-Lise and enjoy the rural surrounding. Thanks!!
